#SONGS TO LISTEN TO IN LONDON#

The Kinks - Lola
The Clash - Guns of Brixton
Pulp - Common People
The Who - Who Are You?
Dan Le Sac VS Scroobius Pip - Letter From God To Man

( Top five tracks from my ‘LDN playlist’. I do have a much longer one but these are the ones that really stuck in my head as I had my iPod on today. Every single one of the tracks stuck for very good reasons, reminds me of certain areas in London. Some of which I passed today, some of which I will pass by within the next few days. You can probably guess these places just by listening to the tracks above. )

( Was asked a rather interesting question earlier this afternoon. Name my top five favourite bands of all time. I have to admit, this is not an uncommon question but it is one of the most difficult questions I’d have to answer. Over the years, I had been asked this same question by my more musically obsessed mates. Believe me, when your ipod has over a few hundred albums, you need a formula. I guess I developed a formula that was close to saying how I have a top three all time favourite and the bottom two spots are for current favourites of the moment. I still stick by this formula. So inspired by that question, I’ve decided to make a top five list of my favourite songs from my current top five favourite bands. I had no idea why I named ‘Interpol’ then, partially because I was listening to Interpol before I stepped into the cafe. But I revised and here’s my current top five, complete with video links. This is for MJ (although I doubt you’ll see this really), since she asked the question and I sort of ‘blabbered’ and submitted her to an almost 15 minute mini lecture of ‘The Smiths’ and how ‘Madchester’ was such an important musical movement. Forgive me, I get carried away with music. All the time. )

( I had this theme in my head for the longest time. I’ve to admit I’m a sucker for cover songs and mash ups. This is especially so when indie bands cover pop songs and make them sound so much better than the originals. Goes to show how much more musically creative they are as opposed to ‘prototyped or standard’ record label producing. Anyone who knows me well, will be able to tell you that I don’t listen the radio very much. I also have a general dislike for Top 40s and whatnot. Suffice to say that the originals listed below would make my stomach turn in an instant. For some reason, I find myself enjoying the covers so much more, hence the top five list. )
