I’m on a roll. Radiohead phase, as mentioned before. Still, this was made for MTV EXIT, a campaign to raise awareness about exploitation and increase prevention of human trafficking in Europe and Asia. I was a part of the MTV generation. It’s probably not a big deal now but back in the day, it was the must have channel if you’re subscribing to cable telly. It is good to see big corporations do their bit for the community. The video on the right is taken in Indonesia if I’m not mistaken. Reason is because I keep hearing Malay/Indonesian word “Bangun!” which means to get up. Could probably be in Malaysia as well but to be honest, there aren’t that many big factories left in Malaysia since the Asian economic downturn. Malaysia is becoming increasingly expensive when it comes to labour wages. Sad but true story. It not only applies to cheap clothes/shoes but I think more often then not, these factories probably belong to your local chain store brands belonging to huge corporations. Think before you decide to get something you know you don’t need but you get it just because it’s cheap. Increase in demand will automatically increase mass production as well, probably resulting in even more extensive abuse in child labour. So spare a thought when you can.

(I’ve always had this dilemma in my head. Do I still want to work for an industry that is out to make money from kids and their parents? Do I want to be involved with an industry that now dictates what people should listen to and cash in on copyrights/creativity of genuine musicians? Do I still want to support an industry that is now rejecting genuinely creative talents for fast cash/easy money of creating sensations out of reality telly shows and fake idols? I love the music industry but at the rate that it’s going, I’m having second thoughts. )
